Final Four Preview: Wichita St. vs Louisville

(9) Wichita State will take on (1) Louisville in the Final Four matchup. Each team is coming off of an impressive win against their Elite-8 opponents and neither team wants the journey to end here.

Wichita State has defeated (8) Pittsburgh, (1) Gonzaga, (13) La Salle, and (2) Ohio State thus far, and hope to add (1) Louisville to the list after Saturday’s game. (1) Louisville, though, has put away (16) NC A&T, (8) Colorado St., (12) Oregon, and a fantastic (2) Duke team. Louisville is also running off of emotion from the injury Kevin Ware suffered in their last game, and will feed off of that during tonight's game.

Wichita State has had steady play from seniors Carl Hall and Malcom Armstead, and great contributions from the play of freshmen Cleanthony Early. The Shockers have had been able to come away from games with a win due in partly to their uncanny ability to rebound, with nearly 38 a game, and their defensive presence down low. Louisville big, Gorgui Deing will be a defensive force that will give the Shocker’s bigs a tough time in a game that will certainly be very physical.

Louisville beat an championship caliber Duke team in the Elite-8 matchup and is ready and prepared to send the Wichita State Shockers packing. Russ Smith had 23 points in the win against Duke, and Gorgui Deing added 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks. If Louisville wants to get past the stout play of the Wichita State Shockers, they need to outrebound them by a decent margin in this game. The game will be close, and I believe it comes down to the team with the most stops and the most rebounds.

I predict that  Wichita State will come away with another miraculous victory over the (1) Louisville Cardinals in the Final Four matchup, and the Shockers will “Shock” the world as they take on the winner of Michigan vs. Syracuse in the National Championship game.
