Fordham's Ryan Canty Leaves Team For Personal Issues

Fordham basketball took a huge blow today as junior center Ryan Canty has left the team due to personal issues.

The Rams sent an e-mail today announcing Canty's departure due to personal issues. Canty was already dealing with back issues that kept him from playing significant time during the 2013-14 season. The 6'9" junior was averaging 3.3 ppg and 3.3 rpg this season.

Fordham's Head Basketball Coach Tom Pecora released a statement saying "We want only what is best for Ryan Canty as he addresses these issues,” said Pecora. “We will continue to support Ryan in any way we can. We ask that everyone respect his privacy at this time and we wish Ryan and his family the best as he moves forward.”

With the loss of Freshman F/C Manny Suarez for academic reasons and now the loss of Canty, It will be up to Fordham's sophomore forwards Ryan Rhoomes and Travion Leonard to mix it up in the paint for the rest of the season. The Rams are 2-1 this season and are coming off a win against Lehigh. They continue the season this Saturday against Sacred Heart in Rose Hill Gym.
